Community Pen Practice: Notes for Women in Recovery

You know you want to get creative, but life just seems so busy. Why not honour yourself and set a date with yourself and like-minded folks? I started this calligraphy meet up because I needed the accountability to show up for myself and stretch my creative muscles, because I know it's good for my soul.

Come on out with your paper and pens! Join us for a totally casual “calligraphy jam” / “pen meet up” that offers you a supportive, encouraging space to light your creative spark.

  • Get inspired by others’ energy, presence, and ideas

  • Let a community of like-minded folks blast you through the inertia of artlessness

  • Make connections with new calligra-friends and learn some new tips from each other

  • Speed date pens from others’ stashes (and let them try yours out too)

  • Collaborate and contribute to a purpose greater than yourself…donate your practice lettering to women and youth in need.

Bring your positivity, and some pens (if you have them, though not necessary as there is a community toolbox you can dip into). Card stock will be provided to write messages of hope to marginalized women in need. We will also be writing the names of women in recovery which will be given to community partners who are supporting the women's healing and freedom.

This is meetup has no formal instruction or agenda. Come for free-flow creative exploration and great connecting over conversation! If you’re interested in formal instruction, there are plenty of other beginner-friendly workshops you can take. Check those out here.

RSVP with your ticket by donating $5 to let us know you're coming. The full $5 ticket goes to fighting human trafficking locally and globally, with 100% going to support the work of Servants Anonymous, an organization with a proven long term track record of helping sexually exploited women start a new life of freedom.
